BSNL regain title in E-League Cricket Tournament

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) regained the title in the 3rd E-League Cricket Tournament, defeating Odisha Blues by six runs in the hard-fought final here at IMMT Ground today. BSNL had emerged champions in the inaugural edition in 2013-14 and finished runners-up in 2014-15.

Champions BSNL received the glittering trophy and a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while runners-up Odisha Blues were given Rs 15,000. Ramachandra Mohanty and BBCC Mohapatra pocketed the prizes as man of the final match and man of the tournament respectively.

The prizes for best batsman, best bowler and best wicketkeeper were pocketed by Bibhudutta Panda (Odisha Blues), Rajesh Mohanty (Odisha Greens) and Subrajeet Behera (TCS) respectively. IMMT Chief Scientist Dr S K Singh, TCS Delivery Head Kishore Swain and former Odisha cricketer Bikram Mohanty handed over the prizes at the closing ceremony.

Three generations of cricketers took part in this year`s E-League, which was conducted in two phases _ Challenger Series and Elite Series _ by sports enthusiasts of TCS and IMMT at IMMT from November 15.

Four teams _ IMMT, TCS-A, NISER and Infosys _ competed in the Challenger Series, which served as the basis for composition of a combined team for participation in the six-team Elite Series. Other five teams of the Elite Series included Bhubaneswar Colts, Odisha Blues, Odisha Greens, BSNL and TCS.
